What does Kpokploku stand for?
As you can see on the homepage, our staff symbol is one ear of corn being held in the palm of a man. The corn is a symbol to ward off hunger. In our tradition, cornmeal is used for most of our meals to feed the family. The corn was chosen to represent what the club stands for, FAMILY being there for each other. Kpokploku is the freshly harvested corn symbolizing end of hunger and beginning of satisfaction and happiness. Traditionally, households have to be able to keep cornmeal at home no matter how much or less there is to feed the members of the family as well as a stranger who might be visiting; a home must have cornmeal.
Can I become a member if I'm not a Ghanaian?
Yes, you can become a member even if you are not a Ghanaian.
These are some of the reasons why we have brought the club to the information supper highway. People from all nationalities come and enjoy our Ghanaian festivities each time of the year with their Ghanaian friends and families. They show interest in becoming members of the club but the language barrier makes it difficult for them to do so. Since we cannot blame them for feeling uneasy, we the executive team decided to do something about that. We believe that introducing the club online will give non-Ghanaians who are interested in joining our social clubs to feel our warm welcome.
Can a Ghanaian from any tribe join the club?
Of cause yes! All our manuscripts are written in English because we all have barrier in our vernaculars due to multiple tribes in Ghana. Also, English is our second language which makes it easier for us to communicate with each other no matter which tribe they come from.
